How Do You Connect An Auto Audio Graphic Equalizer?

0

If you’re someone who really likes to tweak the sound of your car audio system, a graphic equalizer may be just the right thing for you. There are a few preconditions to installing a graphic equalizer into your car, however. A graphic equalizer will bypass the internal amplifier of the receiver, so your system must have external amps to power the speakers. And you’ll need an aftermarket receiver, rather than a factory receiver, because the graphic equalizer gets its signal through the preamp outputs of the receiver. Connect the equalizer to a power source. You can use the same power leads that you employed with your aftermarket receiver. Connect the yellow wire of the equalizer’s wire harness to a constant power source–one that is not switched off with the ignition. Some equalizers also will have a red wire. If so, connect it to a switched 12-volt power source. Again, the power connections on your receiver have the same color coding. In each case, physically connect the wires together
