How Do You Connect A Thermostat To A Baseboard Heater?
Electric baseboard heaters are controlled by thermostats. The thermostat toggles the heater on and off to keep the room at the preset temperature. Thermostat location varies with electric baseboard heaters. Some thermostats are on the electric heater itself and others are located remotely on the wall. The thermostats are line voltage, which means they use regular household current (115 volts). With a few tools, it is fairly easy to connect a thermostat to a baseboard heater. Turn the power off to the electric heater if you have already not done so. The easiest way is to turn off its breaker in the circuit breaker panel. Mount an electrical box in the wall between 4 and 5 feet off the ground. You may need to open up the drywall between the thermostat location and the electric heater so you can mount the box and run the wire. Run two-conductor electrical wiring between the electrical box and the electric baseboard heater. Connect the electrical wiring to the electric heater. Refer to the
