How Do You Connect A PVC Pipe To A Cast Iron Pipe?

0

If you are expanding or remodeling your bathroom, you may end up using PVC pipe for your water needs. If this is the case, you might have to connect new PVC pipe to an older cast iron pipe. In the past, you could just solder the pipes together or use a hub connector because both pipes were made out of metal. However, it is impossible to join PVC to metal in this way. These two types of pipes can be joined with a special type of coupling. Uncover the cast iron pipe you will be hooking into from the wall. Give yourself a good area to work in. Place one end of the no-hub coupling on the cast iron pipe. Tighten the bolts on the coupling which are over the cast iron pipe with the socket wrench. Place the PVC pipe into the other end of the coupling. Make sure the PVC pipe is securely in the coupling and the end of the PVC is flush with the end of the cast iron. Tighten the bands on the coupling over the PVC pipe with the socket wrench. This will connect the two pipes together.
