These devices dictate what programs to allow and to prevent any other application from starting or others from entering the computer from the Internet. Windows Firewall is a the most common firewall available and is included in newer versions of the Windows operating system, such as Windows XP and Windows Vista. Open the Window’s System Control panel to access the firewall settings user interface.
