How Do You Conduct A Process Audit?
A process is simply a way of doing something. Most people have the same process for going to work in the morning. They hear an alarm, wake up, take a shower, get dressed, eat breakfast, and leave to go to work. For some people the process may involve an additional step or two or perhaps not as many. However, auditing the process would be the same. One of the most effective tools to facilitate a process audit is the process map. Determine if the process is fully automated, manual or both. If the process to be audited is fully automated you can skip to Step 3. If the process is manual, that is, if it requires human intervention for completion, determine what the primary roles are in the process and who fills these roles. Create a process map.
