How Do You Compost With Red Wigglers?
Composting is the process by which organic matter such as table scraps, leaves and grass clippings are placed into an outdoor pile and allowed to decompose. The heat that is generated by the decomposition process degrades the plant matter into soil over time. The problem is that composting in this manner often takes quite a bit of time. However, a faster way to create compost is by adding worms, such as the Red Wiggler to the organic matter. Select a container to serve as the compost bin. The ideal container is made of wood or plastic and is large enough to hold approximately 20 to 30 pounds of soil. In addition, the container should be between 8 and 12 inches deep and have a cover. Using a drill, create eight to ten 1/4 inch holes in the bottom of the container to allow for drainage. Select a location for the compost bin that is consistently between 40 and 80 degrees. Place four bricks or pieces of wood on the ground and place the container on top of them. Slide a shallow dish or tray
