How Do You Combine 2 Twin Beds?
Hoteliers regularly combine two twin beds to form one king-size mattress, using a device sometimes called a trundle safety strap. You can do the same thing–with or without using the same equipment they do–in just a few minutes at home. You have two ways of avoiding the depression or crack that results from squeezing two mattresses together: Either bind them together with a trundle safety strap as the hoteliers do, or replace the twin mattress with a king-size mattress supported by the twin bed frames. Remove the twin mattresses from the box springs and frames. Set the mattresses aside or dispose of them. Slide the twin bed frames and box springs together until their long sides touch and line up evenly. Lock the wheels on the frame–usually accomplished by moving a small tab over the wheels–if that’s an option on your particular frames. Place a king-size mattress on top of the two twin frames. Two standard twin frames will be about 2 inches wider than a king mattress and about 5 inch
