How Do You Collect Science Fiction TV Shows?
Science fiction has had a long, strange history. Movies and TV shows have generally been decades behind the literary form, yet there have been some good SF (the preferred abbreviation, not “sci-fi”) shows since the beginning of TV. Today, with everything finally coming out on DVD, it is easier than ever to collect all the old shows. Decide what you want to collect. If you want everything even remotely SF in your collection, it’ll be easy if expensive. If you are more selective—say you just want to collect “Star Trek”-related material—it will be quicker. Most people probably will want a collection somewhere in between. Start with the shows you really like and can watch many times. Shows like “Quantum Leap,” “Star Trek,” “Doctor Who” and “The Prisoner” make great watching any time.
