How Do You Cliche Verre?
Cliche Verre was popularized in the 19th century in France. The name literally means painted glass in french. Cliche Verre is technically, a photographic contact-printing technique where you etch on a piece of glass or film and then printing this image on light-sensitive paper. One of the most popular artists that develops cliche verre art is Jaromir Stephany Darken a piece of flat glass over a not to hotly burning candle until it is completely blackened on one side. Remove the glass from heat and etch an image with the needle into the soot. Cover the glass on the non-soot side with photosensitive paper and keep it in a place where the sun shines consistently. Make sure that the glass is positioned so the light passes through the glass. he light will trace the etchings on the photosensitive paper, and the image you have etched will have been captured on the photo sensitive paper!
