They could also serve as an advertisement of your menu or business. Clear-coating food is not difficult, but it takes a lot of varnish to preserve the food and prevent decay and molding. Many types of foods can be preserved and displayed in this way, from fruits and vegetables to grain products such as breads. Choose breads that are too stale to eat, but not moldy. Choose fruits that are appealing to the eye. Soft fruits such as peaches, plums and berries are not recommended. Paint each piece thoroughly with the varnish. Allow the piece to dry for about five hours. Repaint with varnish again. Repeat the process until all foods are painted 4-5 times. This will thoroughly seal the food.
