Windows XP logs all system events for security purposes and to collect troubleshooting information. Security logs can be viewed and managed from the Windows Event Viewer. However, if you’re unable to open Windows normally, you will have to access and clean the security logs via the command line. As the computer is starting up, press the F6 key to display the Boot Options menu (this key may differ depending on the manufacturer of your computer). Choose “Safe Mode with Command Prompt.” When the command prompt is displayed, type the following string exactly as shown and press Enter: sc config eventlog start= disabled If you have successfully entered the command, the system displays a “SUCCESS” message. Type the following command and press Enter to restart Windows: SHUTDOWN -r As the computer is rebooting, press the F6 (or other) key and choose “Safe Mode with Command Prompt” from the Boot Options menu again. When the command prompt is displayed, type the following command and press Enter
