Vinyl floors were originally created as a less expensive alternative to linoleum. Vinyl flooring, made from plastic, became popular because of its versatility, comparatively bright colors, crack-resistant nature and its low-maintenance cleaning requirements. Vacuum your vinyl floors often, especially the areas that are walked upon the most. Use the right vacuum attachment so you don’t damage the floor or your vacuum, going over each section of the floor a couple of times. Mop your vinyl floor with clean warm water once a week, taking care to dampen your mop (not saturate it). Run the mop lightly over the floor.
