If you don’t have a kit, you can buy one online for around $25. Put on the appropriate protective clothing, including disposable aprons, caps, and eye protection. Proper PPE will not only protect you from different viruses, it will also protect you from blood stains on clothing and skin. Always wear double gloves (nitrile preferred) and a face mask. Pour an absorbent material over the spill. This material will be part of your clean-up kit. Use a scoop to pickup the material (small shovel or card board piece). Wipe up any remaining blood or OPIM with an absorbent towel. Apply a disinfectant to the area. Place all clean-up supplies, including protective body clothing, in a red bag for proper disposal. Thoroughly wash your hand with an alcohol-based hand rub.
