Although the Nintendo GameCube is going on its 10th year and has been replaced by the newer Wii console, the console is still fun to fire up every once and a while. And if you have an extensive GameCube game collection, it is definitely worth keeping your old system around. However, as with any aging console, it is important to keep the disc reading lens in good shape to preserve the life of your console. Open the top of your GameCube by pressing on the gray “Open” button. Wait for the tray cover to pop up completely. Grab a lint-free cloth (such as an eyeglass or electronics-specific cleaning cloth) and give the lens a dry rub. Do not use any water or solution, as the purpose of this step is simply to remove any surface dust.
