How Do You Clean The EGR Valve On An Isuzu Amigo?
The EGR valve on your Isuzu Amigo is an “exhaust gas recirculation” valve. It is responsible for recirculating the exhaust gases back into the engine for more complete burning. The valve on the Amigo will become clogged over time with carbon deposits because of this and will periodically need to be cleaned. Once the EGR valve has been removed from the throttle body, you need to know the proper way to clean it. Soak the EGR valve in a small container filled with carb and choke cleaner. The carb cleaner will eat away at the carbon deposits on the valve. Soak the valve for at least 24 hours. Scrub the EGR valve with a small pipe-cleaner style brush. Make sure that you remove all of the black carbon deposits from the valve. The valve on the Amigo uses a pin as a backstop for exhaust pressure, so you will need to make sure that you do not damage this pin while cleaning. Wipe the valve down with shop rags and allow the inside of the valve to air-dry.
