How Do You Clean Stains On Marble Figurines?
Cleaning marble is a chore that requires delicate hands and non-abrasive cleaners. Because marble is a porous material, it tends to absorb liquid, causing it to stain easily. Harsh cleaning agents like bleach can cause permanent damage to your collectible marble figurines, so you need to be careful. Make a paste from two tablespoons of baking soda and one teaspoon of water. Brush the paste over acid stains on your marble figurines. Allow the paste to dry. Dampen a cotton ball with water, and wipe away the dried baking soda paste. Thoroughly dry the piece, as water has been known to stain marble. Dust corn starch or diatomaceous earth over an oil-stained marble figurine to absorb excess oils. Brush away the cornstarch with a damp paper towel. Douse a cotton swab in mineral spirits and wipe away the stain. Clean stains caused by mold, mildew or algae with hydrogen peroxide. Pour peroxide over the stain and allow it to aerate.
