Commercial cleaning agents can be combined with absorbent material to effectively clean stains from a concrete sidewalk. Sweep the sidewalk with a push broom to remove dirt, leaves and debris. Spray the sidewalk with a high pressured hose to remove excess dirt and debris missed with the broom. Create a poultice by mixing a cleaning solvent with talc powder, or cut pieces of old newspaper. Cut the newpaper into two inch squares until you have enough to cover the stained area. Organic agents should be used for the cleaning solvent first.
