How Do You Clean Soot-Covered Wood Floors?
Soot tends to cling to surfaces, including wood floors. Unlike dirt, which can be simply swept and mopped away in a few steps, soot’s fine, oily particles means you may need to repeat cleaning steps to ensure it is completely removed. A key feature in soot removal is to start cleaning using dry methods before adding wet methods. Otherwise, the soot will smear and take longer to remove. Put on rubber gloves. Wipe the sooty areas with a dry chemical soot sponge, available at many hardware stores. You can do this by holding the sponge in your hand, or you can attach it to a sponge mop handle.
