How Do You Clean Skate Board Grip Tape?
The grip tape on the top surface of the skateboard helps keep your feet in their proper position during riding and performing tricks. Sometimes debris and dirt can build up on the tape reducing the effectiveness of the tape’s gripping ability. Even things such as gum and mud can stick to the tape, blocking the sandpaper-like bumps in the tape. Rather than replacing the tape you can clean it at home. Place the skateboard on a patch of grass or on carpeting to prevent the board from rolling around during cleaning. Fill the large cup with warm tap water. Leave a small amount of space between the water fill line and the top of the cup to minimize overflow and splashing when inserting the brush. Place the toothbrush, bristles first, into the cup of water and let it soak for a few minutes. Remove the toothbrush from the cup and vigorously rub the bristles back and forth across the grip tape.
