One of the many things that scuba divers are taught when getting their dive certification is how to maintain their equipment. Salt deposits can be extremely damaging to SCUBA gear. The best way that you can maintain your equipment is by taking the time to properly rinse your gear clean, no matter how tired you might be. Cleaning SCUBA equipment doesn’t require any kind of special equipment. All you really need is a bathtub with a shower attachment and a place to hang your wetsuit to dry. Rinse off all of your SCUBA equipment in fresh water to remove salt deposits. The regulator should be rinsed while it is still attached to the tank and the tank valve should stay open. Set aside your snorkel, mask, fins and weight belt to air dry. Take the nozzle and spray water into your wetsuit and and the insides of your dive booties.
