How Do You Clean Saltwater Aquarium Glass?
Nothing can ruin the look of your carefully maintained saltwater aquarium like algae on the inside of the glass. Likewise, dust and dirt on the outside of the glass can inhibit your viewing pleasure. Luckily, cleaning the glass on a fish tank just takes the right tools and little elbow grease. Carefully turn off and remove the hood of your aquarium. Turn off your filter and aerator. This will help you see into the water more clearly and keep your tank from overflowing when you plunge your arm into it. Using a sponge and/or a scraper made especially for cleaning aquariums, remove algae from sides and corners of the glass. Some types of soft, green algae is best removed by sponge, while harder algae, such as coraline, require scraping. Move quickly but carefully to avoid damaging corals or toppling decorations, injuring fish, splashing water onto electrical equipment or stirring up gunk that has settled on the bottom of the tank.
