How Do You Clean Porcelain Enamel Cookware?
Porcelain enamel is a coating used on many pieces of metal cookware. The enamel creates a very durable surface that is resistant to both hot and cold temperatures. Any cooking utensils can be used with porcelain enamel, and the cooking possibilities with this type of cookware are nearly endless. Cleaning porcelain enamel is as easy as using it, requiring only a very basic cleaning process. Rinse any food or liquid from the cookware. If the cookware has grease or fat in it, pour this off as soon as you finish preparing the food. Soak any burnt-on spots in 2 tsp. baking soda and a quart of water for about an hour to loosen the food and make removal easier. Gently rub with a wooden scraper to remove the food. Wash the cookware in warm, soapy water. Use a sponge or soft cloth. Never use steel wool or other harsh abrasive on porcelain enamel.
