How Do You Clean Polished Stainless Steel?
Stainless steel will thrive if kept clean. You cannot wear out the bright metallic finish. A major cause of stainless steel corroding is from being dirty. The dirt can disrupt the protective chromium oxide that forms on the surface. This oxide is what keeps the stainless steel from rusting or corroding. By following a basic process you can clean the bright finish metal. Remove heavy built-up grease and oil by applying a solvent. Pour a small amount of acetone in a clean rag and wipe the area. The acetone will cut the heavy oils and grease from the surface. Pour a half-cup of the detergent in a plastic bucket and fill with clean water. Apply the mixture to the solvent-treated area using the sponge. This application will wash off any remaining solvent and prevent corrosion. Rinse the area thoroughly with clean water.
