Ease of installation is one of the main benefits of a fiberglass shower. Since no grout is needed, a fiberglass application may seem ideal. In addition, fiberglass showers are much less expensive than other materials used to construct showers. Yet, without proper cleaning, fiberglass can become dull and dingy and even develop soap scum buildup that appears as a thick white film on the shower walls and floor. If your fiberglass shower is in a less than sparkling state, you can clean and polish it with a few well-selected products and some effort. Apply a liberal amount of liquid laundry detergent or liquid dishwashing soap to the shower walls and floor with a scrubbing sponge and allow it to sit for at least one hour. Wipe the stains away with a clean, wet sponge and rinse thoroughly. Stubborn stains may require a repeat of these first two steps.
