How Do You Clean Pentair Pool Filters?
Pentair makes three kinds of pool filters. They are sand, diatomaceous earth (D.E.) and cartridge filters. These all need to be cleaned on a regular basis, depending on how high the pressure gets in the pool. There will be a water pressure line near the pool pump. If it is up above the red line, then the filter needs cleaning. The filter helps remove dirt particles that accumulate in the swimming pool. Turn the pool pump off. Lift the lid of the Pentair pool filter. Unlock the latch on the top and side. Twist the top half off by turning it to the left and pulling up. Open the drain plug. This will be located on the bottom side of the filter. This will empty out the water sitting in the filter. If you have a sand filter, then do not do this step since the sand will run out through the drain plug. Get a hose and rinse the filter. You do not have to remove it from the container while doing this. Place the hose over the actual filter and spray it. Avoid spraying it with high pressure water
