How Do You Clean Older Wood Floors?
Floors that are more than thirty-five years old need a little extra care when being cleaned. You don’t want to damage the wood and end up needing to replace it. All you need is a little patience and some time to give your older wood floor the attention it needs and deserves. Dust your older wood floor with a cotton dust mop at least once a week. If you have a lot of foot traffic through that area, you may want to dust the floor once every three days. Clean any spills or messes as soon as they happen. Do this with a rag dampened with a hot water dish soap solution. Dry immediately with a second rag. Mix one cup of vinegar with one gallon of hot water in a bucket. Mop your wood floors without soaking them. As soon as you have finished, go back over your floors with some dry rags. Wash once every other week. Use SC Johnson’s One Step Paste Wax for wood floors.
