Because it can not be autoclaved, you need to wash it with soap and water. Very hot water and antibacterial soap is all you can really use. You cannot use harsh chemicals, because 1.) the plastic may not be able to stand the chemicals and have a bad reaction, and 2.) This is going to go into your MOUTH, as you have to avoid poisoning. Alcohol does not sterilize and is inappropriate for piercings. It merely moves the germs around; it does not kill them. Make sure you waited the suggest time before switching jewelry. It is very dangerous and moronic to change jewelry in a not healed piercing, especially the tongue. And also acrylic (plastic) jewelry is VERY inappropriate for new piercings.
