How Do You Clean Motorcycle Brake Rotors?
The brake rotors on your motorcycle help to slow it down. While the rotor itself spins with the wheel, a caliper assembly fits over part of the surface of the rotor. When the brakes are engaged, the caliper applies pressure to the rotor through a brake pad, which causes friction. In essence, the rotor’s rotational force or energy is converted to heat by the caliper and brake pads. This in turn slows the bike down. Over time, brake dust, dirt and debris from the road can cause a decrease in brake performance. For this reason, you’ll want to be sure that you are regularly cleaning your motorcycle brake rotors. Locate the brake rotor and hub assembly. This is located in the center of your bike’s wheel. It will be a round-shaped disc with a device resembling a curved rectangle (the caliper assembly) over the side or top of your brake rotor. Spray the brake parts cleaner over all of one side of the brake rotor of your bike. You will actually be covering the entire brake hub assembly surface
