How Do You Clean Mold & Mildew From A Boat Cover?
Boat covers protect your vessel from UV rays, rain, dirt, debris, rodents and moisture buildup. This takes the vulnerability off of your boat and puts it on your canvas cover, which can often result in a soiled or moldy buildup over time. In addition, exposure to salt water leaves a residue behind that allows moisture to be held on the surface of the fabric, often resulting in the formation of problematic mildew. Improve the vitality and longevity of your cover by cleaning it regularly and combating mold before it spreads. Brush off any loose debris and soil on your cover and hose it down with lukewarm water (less than 100 degrees F). Examine the canvas for signs of mold or mildew. Mix together 1 cup of chlorine bleach, 1/4 cup mild soap such as Dreft, Woolite or Ivory Snow, and 1 gallon of water. Dishwashing detergent such as Dawn Liquid may also be used in place of the laundry soap. Saturate the fabric with the solution and scrub it well, allowing it to sit for 15 minutes on the canv
