How Do You Clean Mildew Off Of Leather Car Seats?
Warm, humid air can create the perfect conditions for mildew growth. A clue that you may have mildew on your seats is a thin, white film and a musty smell. If you fail to remove it, the mildew may discolor the leather. Mix one part of isopropyl alcohol with one part of water in a small container. Dampen a clean, white, lint-free cloth with the solution. Wipe down the mildewed areas of the leather seats with the dampened cloth to remove the mildew. Allow the seats to air dry, out of direct sunlight. Open the windows and place the car in a shaded area with good air circulation. Add the manufacturer’s recommended amount of soap containing fungicide or germicide to clean water to make a cleansing solution. Wearing gloves, agitate the solution to form bubbles. Scrub the mildewed areas of the leather seats with the soap-and-water solution and wipe clean with a damp, clean, lint-free cloth. Allow the seats to dry thoroughly before closing the windows and/or doors.
