How Do You Clean Mildew Off Books?
Mildew can grow on books when they’ve been kept in damp storage conditions, such as a storage shed or basement, for long periods of time. There are several things you can do to remove the mildew, including using rubbing alcohol and getting a little help from the microwave. Use this easy method to clean mildew off books safely, without causing undue damage to the pages or covers. Put on a particle mask to prevent inhalation of mold spores. Take the affected books outdoors, if possible, and remove any loose mildew from the covers and pages using a soft, dry brush. If the pages are wet, place them in an airy place, such as under a fan or outdoors in a breeze, to dry thoroughly. Place the books in the microwave, one at a time, and turn on high for 10 seconds.
