How Do You Clean Mildew From Concrete?
Mildew forms in areas that are exposed to moisture and can create health issues for some people. Keeping areas that are prone to mildew clean and dry prevents most problems. Concrete is susceptible to mildew because it’s used in basements and other areas that have frequent contact with the ground. Cleaning mildew from concrete is a simple process. Sweep the area if the mildew is on a floor. Use a brush to remove loose mildew from walls. Mix 1/3 cup powdered laundry soap with 1 qt. of liquid bleach and 3 qt. of warm water. Put the bleach in the water first and then add the detergent. Apply the liquid to the mildewed concrete with a stiff brush. Scrub thoroughly. Use a toothbrush to work the liquid into spaces the brush doesn’t reach. Leave the mixture on the affected areas long enough for stains to lose their dark color. Don’t allow the solution to dry. Rinse the area thoroughly with clean water and dry it as quickly as possible. Use a fan to aid in the drying process in enclosed areas.
