How Do You Clean Metal Roofing Shingles?
Metal roofing shingles are extremely popular because they require next to no maintenance. If you’ve never set foot on your roof, they will still last for years, as long as they were installed correctly. However, over time they may develop a thin patina of debris and become duller than you would like. Then, it is time to climb up there and scrub off your shingles. Mix 1 gallon of hot water, 1 cup laundry detergent and 1 cup of bleach in a bucket. Take your supplies up to the roof. You will need to have a stiff-bristled push broom, a wire brush, your cleaning mixture and the hose all at your disposal. Do not try to carry them all up the ladder at once. You will need to bring them up a few at a time. Rinse the entire roof off with water. This will remove any large debris, like pine needles and leaves. As you rinse, check for rust.
