How Do You Clean & Maintain Marble Counters?
Marble is a durable and beautiful addition to any home. It is often used as a counter top in kitchens and bathrooms. It is, however, an absorbent material and needs special care to keep it in good condition. It stains easily and can also be damaged by acids like orange and lemon juice, vinegar and household cleaning products. Clean your marble counter tops often with a mild dish soap and warm water solution. Make sure to rinse all soap off thoroughly. Use a squeegee to remove water completely. Buff dry, don’t air dry. Air drying can leave water marks. Remove most organic stains in marble with a non-abrasive bleach cleaner. Gently rub the area and rinse thoroughly. Alternatively, 12 percent hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of ammonia will work to get most stains out. Rub gently and rinse and dry completely. Use 0000 steel wool to gently buff out any nicks or scratches in the marble. Anything deep should be repaired and repolished by a professional. Wipe or blot any spill on marble imme
