Linoleum is a vinyl floor used mainly in kitchens and bathrooms. It comes in innumerable patterns and colors and often mimics other flooring such as tile. Linoleum can be purchased as sheeting or tiling and is relatively easy for the homeowner to install. Here’s how to clean a linoleum floor. Before cleaning, sweep the linoleum floor and scoop up dust and dirt into the dustpan. Be sure to get into the little nooks, crannies, and corners underneath cabinets. Empty dirt into trash can. Mix linoleum floor cleaner solution with water in bucket or sink, or squirt directly onto the floor depending on the cleaning product. Use a regular or sponge mop to clean the floor, dipping the mop back into soapy water often. Don’t worry about stubborn stains or scuff marks; we’ll get to that in Step 5.
