The paint brush can make all the difference in the final finish of paint. Good paint brushes like Purdy or Elder & Jenks are expensive…but will last forever if cleaned properly after each use. Using warm water, press the paint brush against the bottom of a sink and let the water run onto the bristles. Continue lifting and pressing the brush against the sink bottom while running under water until the “color” runs almost transparent. Next, turn the paint brush upside down and let a gentle stream of water run directly into the bristles while “squeezing” the bristles together. Continue this until the water is running almost clear out of the bristles. Next hold the brush by the handle and use the wire brush to clean the remaining paint from the heel (where the bristles come out of the metal band). Do this by brushing from the heel towards the tip of the bristles. Finish by repeating the first step where the bristles were pressed against the sink bottom under running water. You should see
