The repair installation replaces all the Windows XP system files on the hard drive with the clean system files on the Install disc – but leaves your applications in tact. This is a viable alternative in attempting to fix any system problems your computer may have run into. Insert the XP CD into the computer’s CD drive and restart the computer. Press any key on the keyboard when the screen displays “Press Any Key to Boot from CD or DVD…” This will launch into the Windows XP installer. Press Enter at the Welcome Screen.
