Several situations may call for performing a clean install of Windows XP on a Dell computer, such as sluggish operation, programs that won’t completely uninstall and stubborn viruses. You may simply want to clean up the computer before giving it away. The process is straightforward, and you’ll have a seemingly new Dell when you’re done. Copy all photos, files, programs and data that you wish to save from your computer to blank CDs. The clean install process will erase all the programs you have installed on your hard drive.
