Whenever possible, keep the lid closed. If you have the top up most of the time, the piano will trap a lot of dust and dirt. Just open it when you really need the full sound or want the beautiful look of an open grand. Take a soft dust cloth and carefully dust the front area around the tuning pins and in the easy-to-reach area around the strings. Be sure to use a plain cloth without any oil, since oil might damage the pins or strings. You can do this every couple of weeks. For a more thorough cleaning, vacuum the pin area with the vacuum dusting brush. Then vacuum in back around the strings and very lightly and carefully over the strings.
