How Do You Clean Fireplace Insert Glass?
Depending on the type of fireplace you have and the type of wood you burn, you may have to clean the glass on your fireplace after every fire. The newer fireplaces have an air-wash system that sends the air down the front of the door to keep the smoke and soot from getting to the glass. The older ones don’t, however. Sometimes the hardest part of cleaning the glass is getting to it. Folding doors almost always have to be taken off the fireplace to clean them. The best tip is, the more frequently you clean the glass, the easier it is. Read the manufacturer’s directions on cleaning the glass if it is still under warranty. Using anything to clean the glass that is not recommended will void the warranty and you will have no recourse with the manufacturer if you find the glass or door system is defective.
