How Do You Clean Dryer Vents & Air Ducts?

0

The vent and air duct on a clothes dryer transfer lint removed from the dryer drum out of the house. Located at the end of the air duct, the dryer vent is installed on the outer wall of a home. The air duct is the vinyl hose that extends between the vent and the back of the dryer. Cleaning the dryer vent and air duct is an easy and necessary job to prevent fires in the flammable lint that builds up inside the ducts. Unplug the dryer and pull it out from the wall. Do not open the front door of the dryer and pull the dryer out by the door because that could damage the appliance. Turn the dryer around so you have complete access and room to work on the back of the dryer. Loosen the screws in the clamp holding the air duct hose to the aluminum elbow-shaped duct on the back of the dryer. Stick the vacuum hose into the elbow piece and vacuum out lint trapped inside the dryer. Run the end of the vacuum hose along all sides to remove the lint. Slide the vacuum hose up the loose dryer air duct
