The wax compounds and consistencies of crayons vary from one brand to another, making some very easy to clean and others nearly impossible to wipe away. If you’ve found that the crayon stain is of the latter variety, try this helpful trick. It can take care of even the stickiest, waxiest crayon marks without damaging the wood or its finish. Mix up a small batch of paste using dry starch and cold water. Follow the directions indicated on the starch container to determine the proper amounts of each ingredient. Use a paintbrush, pastry brush or basting brush to apply a fairly thick coat of starch paste to the entire stained area. Allow the paste to dry and harden completely. This may take more than an hour. Use a soft cloth to rub out the starch paste. Rub in a circular motion while applying substantial pressure. Buff the area until all
