How Do You Clean Colored Caulk Off Of Tile?
It’s not difficult to imagine how caulk can be smeared onto the tiles surrounding a tub or shower during construction or remodeling. If the tiles are patterned, or if the color of the tile matches the color of the caulk, you may not be able to see the residue at all. But more likely than not, the colored caulk will be visible on the tile. Fortunately, there are products that remove caulk residue. Scrape the caulk slowly using a razor blade at a slight angle. Use care, as you can easily scratch the tile. Put on rubber gloves and wet a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol or Goof Off Professional Strength. Dab it onto the caulk and let it sit for a couple minutes before attempting to wipe the caulk from the tile with a rag. Repeat until the caulk is gone, then wipe the tile with a wet rag. Use a product made especially for caulk removal, such as Dap Caulk-Be-Gone or 3M Caulk Remover. The products will soften the residue and make scraping it off easier.
