A swimming pool filter is a crucial element in the pools plumbing and filtration system. The pool filter is responsible for filtering out tiny particles, algae and debris keeping the pool water clean and clear. Pool filters collect a lot of dirt and algae and need to be cleaned regularly to ensure maximum efficiency. If you notice your pool filter not working properly or algae beginning to build up in your pool it may be time to clean your filter cartridge. Cleaning your filter cartridge should be done twice a swimming season and only takes a few simple steps. Disconnect power to the pool pump to avoid electrical shock, by unplugging the electrical cord or turning off the circuit breaker. Close all valves on the pool skimmer and pool pump to avoid loss of water while cleaning the filter and cartridge.
