How Do You Clean Car Battery Posts?
If you are having trouble starting your car, the first place to check is the battery. If the posts are corroded and covered with a white or bluish powdery substance, don’t be alarmed. Corrosion is common and occurs most often in vehicles that have been sitting or are seldom used, but it does need to be removed so your battery cables can make the proper connection to start your car. Loosen the nut on each battery cable with a wrench. Remove the cables, beginning with the negative cable. Look for the minus (-) sign. Remove the positive cable marked with the plus (-) sign. Use caution not to contact other parts of the car with the wrench when it is in contact with the battery. Scrape away any buildup of corrosion with the screwdriver. Use baking soda to remove the remaining residue. You can accomplish this in one of two ways. Either pour baking soda onto the post and scrub clean with an old toothbrush and water, or mix a solution of baking soda and water and use it to scrub the post. Rins
