Set-in bloodstains may seem impossible to remove. But you can clean bloodstains from your mattress using such carpet cleaners as Liquid Oxi Clean and Primo Carpet Cleaner. Both are sold in stores and are safe on fabric and upholstery. Add hot water to the bowl. Dunk the rag. Twist the cloth to remove the extra water. Scrub the bloodstain on the mattress. Push down roughly and vigorously scour back and fourth. Rinse the rag and repeat the process. Pour a capful of carpet cleaner onto the cloth. Rub the rag together to create a soap residue. Apply the cloth to the bloodstains. Wash the stain in a circular motion. Press forcefully and scrub quickly to bring the stain to the surface. Add another dab of carpet cleaner on the rag. Repeat this step. Rinse the cloth. Wring out. Then remove the soap residue from the mattress. Wipe in a circular motion until the soap and blood comes out of the mattress.
