How Do You Clean Blackened Stainless Steel Pots?
One minute you’re cooking dinner in a stainless steel pot. Then you get distracted, and next thing you know, you’re left with a burnt, blackened mess to clean out of your favorite pot. Luckily, there’s more than one way to remove the mess from your pots, pans and just about anything made of stainless steel. Squirt a generous amount of Joy dishwashing liquid into the bottom of the blackened stainless steel pot. Fill with water and let sit for several hours. Drain the water, rinse out any loosened debris, and scrub at the blackened area with a copper or similar soft, non-scratch scrubber. Most of the stuck-on mess should come away. If not, repeat. Sprinkle baking soda generously over the blackened parts of the pot, and cover with hot water. Let sit for at least an hour, then scrub the blackened portion of the pot.
