It has a yarn-like texture, which holds water if it soaks in. This material also is prone to marking if furniture or even feet slide across the Berber carpet. To clean automobile grease or any other chemical that may spill out of a white Berber carpet takes special instructions. Fill the pan with hot water. Dip your cloth into the pan. Wring it out so that the cloth is only somewhat damp. Blot the stain in a row. Never rub or go back and forth on the automobile grease. Wring your cloth out again. Repeat this step once. Use a dime-size amount of dish soap on the cloth. Blot the grease spot with the soapy side of the cloth. Again, dab in a row and do not rub. Rinse the rag out thoroughly. Blot the spot without soap.
