Although somewhat expensive, these beautifully knitted sweaters are long lasting when properly cared for. With just a little extra effort, you can keep your Icelandic design sweater in tip top shape. Soak your Icelandic wool sweater for about 5-10 minutes before washing. This will help to remove any embedded dirt or stains. Turn the sweater inside out before washing to prevent any damage to visible fibers. Hand wash only with a very mild detergent. Gently apply soap or detergent to the garment. Do not scrub the wool or rub the detergent into the fibers. Rinse twice. First with warm water to remove the dirt and then a second time with cold to remove all soap from the sweater.
