Having a clean air filter on your motorcycle is one of the most important factors in having a well-running motor. The process of cleaning an air filter requires only basic tools and can be completed by nearly anyone. It is usually recommended that you do this at least every 10 hours of ride time for your motorcycle to maintain peak performance. Pull the motorcycle to an open, accessible location, and prop it on a stand or lean it against a sturdy object. Use a socket wrench to remove the motorcycle’s seat securing bolts. Then, slide the seat off. Pull the top off the air filter box, and loosen and remove the wing nut securing the air filter within the box. Then, pull the air filter assembly out of the box. Pull the air filter framing out of the filter and set it aside. Dunk the filter in a bucket of hot, soapy water. Scrub and wring the filter until it is cleaned thoroughly.
